Tour the National Museum of Military
History in Saxonwold, Johannesburg. Highlight: the
display of one of the only surviving ME262’s! Light
lunch and a “sneak preview” of the newly refurbished
Regimental Museum of the Transvaal Scottish and we end
the day with the welcome dinner at “The Carnivore”
Restaurant.

Tuesday 29th May
|
|
Transfer for flights to the Victoria
Falls.
Arrive early afternoon and immediately tour a
small local village before checking into our hotel - the
luxurious Zambezi Sun. We then celebrate our arrival in
true style - with a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi
River.

Victoria Falls.
Book your own activities - go bungi-jumping,

Join the Gauteng
North Combat Rifle Club
at the Transvaal Scottish-hosted League Shoot. Exercises
at 100m,200m and 300m using standard SANDF combat
assault rifles - the 5,56mm R4. End the day with a
traditional braai on the range.
Alternative - Gold Reef City tour to join up for
dinner on the range.

Tour departs for the battlefields. A
400km journey takes us to Bloemfontein where we will
spend the entire afternoon at the National Boer War
Museum.

Monday 4th June
|
|
Tour departs Bloemfontein and travels to
Spioenkop via the superb mountain scenery of The Golden
Gate Highlands National Park. The afternoon is spent
with local guides on the Spioenkop Battlefield .

Tuesday 5th June

Day spent in the Ladysmith region. We
traverse the Colenso battlefield, visit the Churchill
capture site and explore the Ladysmith museums.

Wednesday 6th June
|
|
Leave Ladysmith and the day is spent
immersed in the conflict of 1879 between the Kingdom of
the Zulus and Queen Victoria’s Empire. We visit
Isandlwana - The Zulu’s incredible victory - and then
Rorke’s Drift - the heroic defence of a small outpost
against overwhelming odds.

Thursday 7th June

Return to Johannesburg via the
battle-site of Blood River / Ncome. This is one of the
iconic clashes that shaped the history of South Africa,
and an understanding of the events here will give an
incredible insight into the history of this country.

The Transvaal Scottish today lay up
their Regimental Colours at the Regimental Headquarters

Medal Parade for Serving Members - Long Service,

restoration project

Sunday 10th June
|
|
Transfer to OR Tambo International
Airport for flights.
Transfer by Gautrain - the new high-speed subway that
achieves speeds in excess of 150km/h |

Tour departs for scenic Mpumalanga province. A
half-day drive takes us to Hannah Lodge - a private game
reserve in the foothills of the Drakensberg escarpment.
This reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife
including buffalo and rhino. A late afternoon safari
rounds off the day just before a delicious buffet
dinner.

We tour the scenic escarpment area -
Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Bourke’s Luck
Potholes, God’s Window plus a chance for some great
shopping - have to take home some real African
souvenirs!

Tuesday 12th June
|
|
Visit one of South Africa’s premier
tourist attractions. By coach to the gate of the Kruger
National Park to transfer to open vehicles. The entire
day is spent in the park searching for wildlife, and
with any luck you get to see the “Big Five”.
Late afternoon arrive in the park restcamp.

Another full day in the park in the open
vehicles.
