Day Schedule |
| Day 1 |
Arrive at
Johannesburg International airport. Your safari
representative will meet you in the arrivals hall, and
the group will be taken to the luxury coach for the
first day of your African Adventure.
A short orientation trip through
Johannesburg, and then on to the satellite city of
SOWETO. Formerly a centre of the anti-apartheid
movement, this city is now a thriving cosmopolitan area.
We visit the Hector Pietersen museum and memorial, drive
through Diepkloof and Baragwanath, and then head to our
hotel for the night. |
| Day
2 |
A
short drive takes us to the capital city – Pretoria, A
visit to the Voortrekker Monument is an introduction to
the early European pioneer settlers in South Africa, we
stop at the Parliament Buildings for a view over the
city, and then a drive over the high central plateau
region of South Africa. On the edge of the plateau it is
a scenic drive through the mountains to our lodge for
the night. We will arrive mid-afternoon at Hannah Lodge,
we check in and prepare for our wildlife experience.
Hannah lodge is situated on a private game reserve, and
the late afternoon is spent looking for animals in this
park. |
| Day
3 |
Today
is the “Panorama Route”. A beautiful day including
Pilgrim’s Rest, a restored historical gold mining town,
the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck potholes and the
craft markets and shops of Graskop. Late afternoon we
arrive at our hotel for the next 3 nights – Pine Lake
Inn. |
| Day 4 & 5 |
Very
early morning start to meet up with our open jeeps for
the wildlife experience of the Kruger National Park. We
spend the whole day in the park, returning late
afternoon to the hotel. |
| Day 6 |
After
a leisurely breakfast we head south toward the Kingdom
of Swaziland. Border formalities are done at Jeppe’s
Reef, and then it is a stunning drive over the mountains
towards the capital city of Mbabane. En-route we will
stop for views and markets, and enjoy the sight of the
glass-blowers at Ngwenya Glass Factory. We arrive
mid-afternoon in the Ezulwini valley at our
accommodation and then have some time to explore the
local markets, swim or just relax. |
| Day 7 |
A
morning drive over the lowlands of Swaziland takes us to
the Golela border post. We re-enter South Africa and
then we have a lunch-time boat ride on the Jozinini Dam.
Game viewing while enjoying lunch. After our boat trip
we drive to Bayala Lodge where we stay for the next two
nights. |
| Day 8 |
A day
in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Early morning departure to
meet the open jeeps at the gate. The morning is spent
looking for animals in this famous game reserve, once
the private hunting grounds of Shaka Zulu. We have a
lunch time barbecue in the park, and then we return to
Bayala Lodge. |
| Day 9 |
Today
we visit a Zulu village to experience the traditional
way of life, and in the afternoon we continue to the St.
Lucia estuary. We have a short boat ride to look for
crocodiles and hippos in the afternoon. Overnight St.
Lucia. |
| Day 10 |
A
short morning drive takes us to uMhlanga Rocks. This
small town, situated on the Indian Ocean is famous for
its beach. Afternoon free to relax. We stay in Umhlanga
Rocks for two nights. |
| Day
11 |
A
relaxed breakfast and then a fascinating tour of Durban.
The mix of cultures – British, Zulu and Indian make for
an incredible variety of sights, sounds and smells. We
visit the Indian Spice Market, the traditional medicine
market, the meat and fish market, as well as a stop for
lunch at uShaka Marine World. |
| Day
12 |
A
very early start to the day – we depart with breakfast
packs from the hotel for the day trip into Lesotho. A 2˝
hour drive takes us to Underberg, where we meet or 4x4
vehicles for the trip up Sani Pass. This mountain pass
in the Southern Drakensberg is one of the highest road
passes in South Africa and rates as one of the top 10
steepest passes in the world. Passports are needed to
cross the border into Lesotho, and once there we visit a
small local village. Lunch will be provided at a small
lodge situated right on the edge of the escarpment. Late
afternoon we arrive at the Sani Pass hotel. |
| Day
13 |
A
morning drive takes us to the Northern Drakensberg. By
lunchtime we will have checked into our hotel situated
in the hills. Surrounded by beautiful scenery you now
have the chance to play golf, go horse riding, go
walking or just relax. |

14 |
A
full day at leisure. |

15 |
A
relaxed morning before departure to Johannesburg to
arrive in time for your flight back home in the evening. |
