Kruger National Park and the Mpumalanga "Panorama Route Area"

I have a total of   available for this part of my holiday

 A)  of which I would like to spend in the Kruger National Park,
B)  and then on the "Panorama Route" - you can see the details of these options further down the page

Whilst in the Kruger Park I would like to visit the following regions:
Southern

This area is recommended for the shorter stays in the park - 2 nights. It is usually busy. The vegetation supports a good animal diversity, and there are many different habitats.
Central

This area is recommended for the medium stays in the park - 3 to 4 nights. This region is quiet out of season. This is an area of rolling savannah and open grassland. It supports a similar animal community to the Southern section of the park and has a good animal diversity.
Northern

This area is for the slightly longer stays in the park. It is more remote, quiet, and has smaller camps. The animal community is different to the Southern and Central areas, and this area supports the highest concentration of Elephant and Buffalo in the park. The far Northern section known as Pafuri is the only region of the park where some of the Afro-tropical vegetation is to be found with the associated birds and animals.

Bush Camp

Comfortable accommodation, fans, no shop, no restaurant, usually quite remote, quiet, few people - total accommodation in these camps is about 10 accommodation units

Talamati has a hide overlooking a waterhole which is lit at night
Small Camp

Accommodation with air-conditioning, shop, restaurant, some camps with swimming pool - indicated with an *

Lower Sabie is beautifully situated overlooking the Sabie River

Pretoriuskop, Shingwedzi and Punda Maria are a must for bird-lovers

Punda Maria - a fantastic, quiet old-fashioned camp
Large Camp

Accommodation with air-conditioning, shop, restaurant, some camps with swimming pool - indicated with an *

Letaba has a very interesting "Elephant Museum"

Olifants camp is beautifully situated on a hill high above the Olifants river

Kruger National Park Tours and Holidays

The "Panorama Route" is a beautiful scenic area centred around the escarpment of the "Transvaal Drakensberg". It is a scenic drive with many different routes. It is possible to do the main scenic drive in half a day - this can then be done en-route to or from the Kruger National Park. It is not absolutely necessary to stay outside the Kruger National Park in order the enjoy the scenic wonders of this area. An overnight stay in a hotel conveniently situated in the town of Hazyview does make for a relaxed day tour of the "Panorama Route".

The standard "Panorama Route" includes the following sites:- God's Window / Wonder View, Blyde River Canyon / Three Rondawels, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Berlin Waterfall

The well-known historical village of Pilgrim's Rest is also situated in this area. A visit can be done - but please allow ½ a day for a visit to this historical site.

A further interesting visit is to the Hoedspruit Cheetah Project. This is a project set up for the breeding of endangered species, and a tour can be arranged around the facility - again please allow ½ a day for a visit to this facility.

Should you choose to visit both the historical village of  Pilgrims' Rest as well as the Hoedspruit Cheetah Project - it will be necessary to overnight in the Hazyview area for at least one night - possibly even two.
Here are a few options to choose from:
  Visit the "Panorama Route" either en-route to or from the Kruger National Park
  Visit the "Panorama Route" either en-route to or from the Kruger National Park with a stay-over in Hazyview
  I would also like to visit Pilgrim's Rest - this will require a minimum 1 night stay in Hazyview
  I would also like to visit the Hoedspruit Cheetah Project - this will require a minimum 1 night stay in Hazyview
